The Video (and an apology!)

Firstly, I'm so sorry I've not written up my diary yet - I will do this by Easter at the very, very latest. Back to work with a bump, and not helped with the fact that I'm about to take another 3 days off - skiing in the swiss alps!

However, a lovely chap called Andy has made a 15 min video of our trip and the link is:

I'd actually totally forgotten just how rough a few of the lower camps were. I had been racking my brain trying to remember Camp 2 - but it came flooding back (literally!) when Andy filmed the thunderstorm! I've been in a lot of storms like this in the mountains before - but have never actually felt the earth beneath me physically shake due to the thunder. The lightening was pretty spectacular at one point too - so bright it actually woke me up as it felt like someone had just shone a massive torch in my eyes (thunder had stopped at that point - there was "just" an electrical storm going on!)

Anyway - enjoy the video and I'll share my thoughts of the trip with you all soon.

I made it!

Just a very short message to let you all know that I'm back in one piece, and that I made it all the way to Uhuru Peak! I'll write up my diary over the coming days, but I wanted to share this with you, along with the other "big" news. John, my partner of 10 years gave me a card to open on the summit. I thought it would be a good luck/well done thing -but it turned out to be a proposal of marriage! Well, you can imagine my surprise and absolute delight. I could only send him a short text message to start with and had to wait for 2 days before I could actually talk to him properly! But what a way to do it?!

Anyway - enough for now - the full story will follow soon.
